Stuck duck hunter rescued in Farmington Bay

FARMINGTON -- Search and rescue crews freed a stuck duck hunter from Farmington Bay on Wednesday evening.

The 22-year-old man became stuck in the mud when the water came up while he was wading through the Bay, Davis County Sheriff's Sgt. Sue Poulsen said.

The hunter called 911 and stayed in contact with dispatchers through his ordeal. Rescue crews were able to use the GPS on his cellular phone to locate him.

Rescuers checked the hunter for hypothermia at the scene.

"I think he got out in time to be all right," Poulsen said.
