OGDEN -- Weber-Morgan Health Department immunization program manager Michelle Singleton has been named Utah's Childhood Immunization Champion by the U.S. Center's for Disease Control.
The award honors individuals who are doing an exemplary job of promoting childhood immunizations in their communities.
Singleton has been passionate about doing that for the past 30 years. As chairwoman of the Northern Utah Immunization Coalition, she plays a leadership role in focusing on improving coverage for those under the age of 2.
She also teaches nurses how to communicate with parents who request immunization exemptions and teaches local hospital prenatal staff about the importance of cocooning newborns against pertussis and influenza.
